How I Work

01
Existential Therapy

Through an existential lens, I support clients in understanding how their beliefs, fears, and life experiences influence intimacy, sexuality, and connection — and in developing the capacity to navigate relational challenges with greater awareness and agency.

02
Nonviolent Communication

I use NVC to help partners talk about desire, boundaries, rejection, and sexual difficulties without blame or defensiveness — creating a space where needs and limits can be expressed openly, and where intimacy and mutual understanding can grow even in moments of vulnerability.

03
Mindfulness and Somatic Practice

My work focuses on helping clients tune into their bodies, navigate emotions with greater ease, and understand where their boundaries begin and end in intimate relationships.

About Me

MSc, BSc — COSRT Student Member

I'm Shira Kiderlen, a psychosexual and relationship therapist in training, currently completing the London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, building on earlier training in integrative counselling and psychotherapy.

My path into this work is both professional and deeply personal. Coming from a multicultural family and having experienced relocation and the challenges of building a sense of belonging across different cultures and environments, I understand how identity, connection, and communication are shaped by the worlds we move through. My personal experiences with ADHD in the family, illness, trauma, and the emotional legacies we carry into relationships and parenthood have also profoundly informed the way I sit with clients, with sensitivity, curiosity, and compassion for the complexity of the human experience.

Professionally, my path has included working in a psychiatric ward, supporting people with a wide range of mental health experiences, as well as volunteering on an emotional stress helpline. Alongside this, I trained in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), which naturally began to weave its way into my relationships and family life, especially in parenting. Over time, I've come to see, both in my own life and in the lives of others, the challenges of staying connected in moments of tension, and the transformative possibilities that open up when communication is approached with greater compassion and awareness.

I work with people of all genders, sexualities, erotic desires, fantasies, and relational expressions, and welcome individuals and consenting adults in a wide range of relationship styles, including kink and non-normative dynamics. This includes individuals as well as intimate partnerships such as couples, polycules, and diverse multi-partner constellations. I also facilitate kink and sensual play workshops, which have deepened my understanding of communication, consent, embodiment, vulnerability, and the many ways we explore and express our sexual selves within and outside our relationships.

I believe therapy can offer not only support and understanding, but also gentle challenge, opening new ways of seeing ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. My work includes inviting deeper reflection and exploring perspectives, even when discomfort arises, as we together cultivate acceptance and optimism with patience, openness, and kindness.
